What are Polls?
This feature allows your community to vote directly in a poll on your social wall. Polls are a great way to keep your audience engaged by doing surveys or asking for feedback in real-time! So how does it work?
Who can use the Polls feature?
Polls is part of the Interactivity Pack, which can be purchased as an add-on for all plans. Polls is also included in our Enterprise plans and some legacy plans.
How are Polls created?
1. Create a Poll
To get started, go to "Content" - "Polls" and click on "Create Poll":
2. Enter the poll questions & answers
In the first step, enter the poll question and the available voting answers. Polls are always single-choice, so the user will pick precisely one answer. By clicking "Add another", you can add up to 10 answers.
💡 Beware: For transparency, it is currently impossible to edit/add/remove answers once a poll has been created!
3. Upload an image, enter post content & user name
In the next step, you will see an option to upload an image with the username and - if desired - enter the post content. This information will be displayed above the poll itself.
💡 Beware: You must either upload an image or enter post content!
4. Publish the poll
In the final step, you can modify how your poll is created:
By activating Start Immediately, your poll will be open for voting and displayed on the wall immediately. When deactivated, you can start the poll later manually.
By activating the Pin poll to top, your poll will always be displayed on top of the wall. This is useful to keep a poll visible & accessible for longer.
5. Try it out!
When opening your wall (https://my.walls.io/...), you'll now see the post with the ability to vote!
How are Polls managed?
Going back to "Content" - "Polls" in your Walls.io dashboard, you'll find a list of all existing polls:
For each poll, you can:
Edit the poll - It is currently impossible to edit/add/remove answers. You can, however, change the image and post content.
Hide/show the poll - This works similarly to showing/hiding posts in moderation.
Delete the poll - take care; this will delete the poll and all answers!
Pin/unpin the poll - Pinning the poll to the top will keep it visible on top of your wall at all times. An unpinned poll will be pushed down by newer incoming posts.
Stop/start the voting - This will allow you to open or close the poll. A stopped poll will not accept new votes. Instead, the winning answer will be highlighted with a little trophy icon.
Once the votes are submitted and you click on "stop voting" in the settings, the end result will look like this:
Do users need to be logged in for Polls?
No! Polls are available to all visitors to your wall. Please note that users might vote in a poll repeatedly on different devices or browsers.
Are Polls available on all layouts?
Polls are currently only available on the Fluid layout!
