Walls.io is required to throttle the content pulled for high-volume keyword-/hashtag-sources. This, unfortunately, is necessary to keep within the limits social media APIs (Application Programming Interface) put on us.
What sources are throttled?
Throttling is applied only to keyword/hashtag sources (not relevant for profiles, lists…) that exceed a very high number of posts per month. We don't communicate the exact number, as this is something we are fine-tuning day-by-day for maximum throughput.
However, throttling will only be in effect for very high-volume keywords/hashtags such as #coffee, #bitcoin etc.
In your dashboard, throttled sources will be marked with a little turtle icon:
How does throttling affect a source?
On all plans, throttling will reduce the update interval significantly (approx. once per hour, but potentially even less for very high-volume keywords/hashtags).
On paid plans, we'll update the source approximately once every 15 min
On the trial plan, we'll update the source twice per day
For event passes, throttling will deactivate realtime updates. Content will instead be updated periodically according to the monthly limit.
How to avoid throttling?
If you absolutely need to use high-volume keywords/hashtags, you can try adding additional filters to decrease the number of expected posts. The more filters you add, the lower the volume of expected posts will be.
