At Walls.io, we are committed to providing an industry-leading platform that can be used and leveraged by everyone. As we continually improve the accessibility of our social walls, we have engaged an accessibility partner to test our solutions and write VPATs to verify that we conform to the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA Conformance (WCAG 2.1 Level AA).

How to enable enhanced accessibility?

While all our layouts support basic accessibility, our Fluid layout was specifically optimized to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. Our recommendation is to use Fluid on all embedded social walls on your website for maximum accessibility.

You can improve accessibility even further by activating this https://my.walls.io/starbucks?accessibility=1 when creating the embed code:

Alternatively, you can use this URL parameter to switch on accessibility mode:

https://my.walls.io/YOURWALL?accessibility=1

"Accessibility Mode" disables some dynamic content features that can lead to a bad experience using screen readers and similar tools:

  • Auto-playing videos

  • Dynamic post updates

  • Post shuffle

Why Does Accessibility Matter?

The importance of accessibility is twofold for us. First, investing in the accessibility of our platform helps us ensure that all our customers can use our platform to successfully manage and support their events. Second, this also allows us to better serve our customers’ ability to create accessible meetings and events for their own audiences and attendees.

What is a VPAT?

A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is a document explaining how Walls.io’s solutions meet the expectations of the WCAG 2.1 Level AA Guidelines. We currently have VPATs for our Fluid layout, with more coming soon. If you require a VPAT, please reach out to our Enterprise sales team!

What are the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines?

The World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are recommendations for making content more accessible across websites. The guidelines are for web content accessibility across multiple devices – desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
