How to add tracks from a Spotify playlist to your social wall

While Walls.io does currently not offer a direct integration with Spotify, it is easy to use our Zapier integration to push tracks from a Spotify playlist to your wall! This step-by-step guide explains how you can achieve this!

You can display tracks from a Spotify playlist on your Walls.io wall by connecting Spotify and Walls.io through Zapier. This is a useful setup if you want to highlight playlist updates automatically on an wall without creating each post manually. In this guide, we’ll show you how to enable your Walls.io API token, connect Spotify in Zapier, map the track details, and publish the automation.

1. Sign up to Zapier

To get started, sign up with Zapier (https://zapier.com/) if you haven't already. Zapier is a marketing tool that allows you to connect hundreds of apps without coding skills. Zapier is offering free plans, so you can get started right away!

2. Enable API access for your wall

In Walls.io, go to Setup > API and activate the access token:

3. Create & name your Zap

In Zapier, start to create your "Zap" by clicking "Make a Zap" (a Zap is kind of a "recipe" that will connect two apps, in our case Spotify + Walls.io). Enter a name for your Zap, f.e. "Spotify to Walls.io".

4. Choose "Spotify" for the Trigger App

5. Choose "New Track Added to Playlist" as trigger event:

This trigger will be fired every time a new track is added to a playlist. Another option would be choosing the "New Saved Track" trigger, which fires every time you save a track to your Spotify library.

6. Sign in to Spotify

If this is your first Zap using Spotify, you'll have to "Sign in to Spotify" to give Zapier permission to access your Spotify account:

7. Choose the Spotify playlist

Next, choose a Spotify playlist that you want to connect with your wall:

Clicking "Test Trigger" will bring in the most recent track on the playlist:

8. Choose Walls.io as the action app in Zapier

In the action step, search for Walls.io and select it as the app that should receive the Spotify track data. This tells Zapier that every new Spotify trigger should create a new post on your Walls.io wall.

9. Choose "Create Post" for the action event:

10. Sign in to Walls.io

If this is your first Zap using Walls.io, you'll have to "Sign in to Walls.io" and copy/paste the API token obtained in step 2:

11. Map Spotify track fields to your Walls.io post

Finally, you need to map the Spotify fields to Walls.io. We recommend getting started with these fields:

  • Track Artists Name

  • Track Name

  • Track Album Release Date

  • Track External URL

  • Album Image

12. Test your Zap and publish it!

After publishing your Zap, all tracks added to the Spotify playlist will be automatically sent to your Wall! 🚀

13. Try out other triggers!

In this example, we've used the trigger "New Track Added to Playlist" to display all tracks on your wall. The Spotify app on Zapier offers many different triggers, like "New Playlist", "New Podcast Episode", "New Played Track" and more. You can find a full list here!
