Yammer by Microsoft is an enterprise social networking service used for private communication within organisations.
You can easily pull in posts from Yammer onto your social wall using our Zapier integration! This step-by-step guide explains how you can achieve this.
1. Sign up to Yammer & Zapier
To get started, sign up with Yammer (https://www.yammer.com/) if you haven't already.
Next, sign up with Zapier (https://zapier.com/). It is a marketing tool that allows you to connect hundreds of apps without coding skills.
2. Enable API access for your wall
In Walls.io, go to "Settings" -> "API Access" and activate the access token:
3. Create your post on Yammer
Go to your "Home Feed" on Yammer and publish a post:
💡 Notice: unfortunately, images and other attachments can currently not be fetched from Yammer.
4. Connect Yammer & Walls.io on Zapier
First off, in Zapier, start to create your "Zap" by clicking "Make a Zap" (a Zap is kind of a "recipe" that will connect two apps, in our case Yammer + Walls.io). Enter a name for your Zap, i.e. "Yammer to Walls.io". Choose Zapier for the trigger app and "New Message" as trigger event:
Secondly, choose your Yammer account and click "Continue":
Next, set up a trigger. Choose which type of message you would like to use as a trigger. You can select either "All public" or "In a specific group":
If you chose messages "In a specific group" above, then specify a group in the next step:
Afterwards, click "Continue" and then "Test trigger":
As the action event, choose Walls.io and the "Create post" event:
If this is your first Zap using Walls.io, you'll have to "Sign in to Walls.io" and copy/paste the API token obtained in step 2:
9. Set up the Zapier action
Next, you'll have to "wire" the Yammer data fields to the Zapier action. For the "Text" field simply choose the "Body Plain: ..." field from the Yammer result. For the "User Name" field select the "User Full Name: ..." field:
By default, posts from Yammer will be automatically shown on your Social Wall. You can of course override this and hide all posts (so each post would need manual approval before it gets displayed on your wall). For doing this, simply change the "Moderation Status" field to "False":
10. Test your Zap and turn it on!
After turning on your Zap, posts (discussions/questions/polls without answers) will be automatically sent to your Wall! 🚀
Watch out – depending on your Zapier plan it might take a few minutes for new posts to appear on the wall!
