With Walls.io, you can automatically publish new images from a Dropbox folder to your wall by connecting Dropbox and Walls.io through Zapier. To set this up, you will need a Dropbox account, a Zapier account, and API access enabled for your wall. This guide walks you through the full setup from folder creation to testing and publishing your Zap.
1. Sign in to your Dropbox account
To get started, sign in to your Dropbox account if you haven't already.
2. Create a new folder in your Dropbox & upload one image
Create a new folder in your Dropbox (or in a directory, which is synced with your Dropbox) and remember its name. Then, upload one image to that folder.
⚠️ Warning: upload only one image to the Dropbox folder before you create the Zap. Add more images only after the Zap has been set up successfully, so Zapier can detect the folder connection correctly.
The supported image formats are:
JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jfif)
PNG (*.png)
GIFs (*.gif)
WebP (*.webp)
3. Enable API access for your Wall
Log in to your Walls.io account and go to Setup > API and activate the access token: 👇
4. Sign in to Zapier and Connect Dropbox
In Zapier, start to create your "Zap" by clicking "Make a Zap" (a Zap is kind of a "recipe" that will connect two apps, in our case Dropbox and Walls.io). Enter a name for your Zap, i.e. "Dropbox to Walls.io". Choose Dropbox for the trigger app and "New File in Folder" as the trigger event:👇
Then, choose your Dropbox account and click "Continue". You'll have to "Sign in to Dropbox" if this is your first Zap using Dropbox:👇
5. Choose the Folder to watch for new images
Next, set up the trigger by selecting the folder you've created in step 2 and set "Yes" for "Include file contents":👇
Afterwards, click "Test trigger":👇
and then click "Continue with selected record": 👇
6. Choose "Walls.io" for the Action
Next, we're going to set up the Zapier action. Choose Walls.io for the app event and "Create Post" as the Action event:👇
7. Sign in to Walls.io
Afterwards, connect your Walls.io account this way: 👇
Click "Choose an account" and then, click "Connect a new account"
You'll see a new window where you can insert the API access token of your social Wall. Copy the API access token of your Wall from step 3 and paste it into the Access Token field:
8. How to configure the Walls.io action fields in Zapier
Next, set up the Zapier action by adding a name for the User Name field. Make sure to fill out the Image field with File (Exists but not shown). 👇 If you do not want to show the username on your wall, you can always hide it with a custom CSS snippet, which you can find in this article.
Select "True" for "Moderation Status" if you want to set your wall to Automatic Moderation. If you prefer to have Manual Moderation (=approve each post manually before it gets displayed on your social Wall), select "False".
9. Test your Zap and publish it!
Finally, test your Zap and publish it:👇
10. Try out other triggers!
In this example, we've used the trigger "New File in Folder" to display all new files on your wall. The Dropbox app on Zapier offers other triggers, like "New Folder" or "New or Updated File". You can find a full list here!
