Make your wall interactive with the Lens virtual photo booth

In this next part of the Quick Start Guide, learn how to set up and use the Lens photo booth in 7 minutes.

Written by Angela DaSilva

Our virtual photo booth feature, Walls.io Lens, lets your audience capture photos and videos and upload them directly to the wall with personalized stickers, frames, backgrounds, and text.

Ways that you can get the most out of Lens

  • Branded participation: users get excited to post their own selfies and videos and YOU benefit from increased engagement and a branded wall

  • Lead generation: every submission from a user can be collected as a lead for post-event follow up, contests, surveys, and more. You can export this list via xlsx or CSV file

  • Sponsorship: If you offer sponsorship packages for your event/website, the photo booth is another way to get ROI by encouraging sponsors to put paid advertisements on your wall. Sponsors can add their own frames and stickers that your audience can use in their posts

2. If you would like your audience to access the photo booth by scanning the QR code displayed on the wall, click here. Otherwise, they can access the photo booth by clicking the link.

Setting up lead generation

Lens provides the opportunity to collect leads. With each post that is submitted by a wall visitor, you can collect valuable user information and export this list for future marketing purposes such as post-event follow up, company giveaways, surveys, and more.

To begin, head to Interactivity > Direct Posts and click Enable Photo Booth (labelled 1). On the right side, you will see that Photo Booth is displayed in the preview.

Then, proceed with the form configuration. The fields that are in the pink box labelled 1 are included by default, but can be disabled depending on your preference listed below.

  • Name: Choose Single field (name), Separate fields (First & Last Name) or Off

  • Email: Set as Optional, Off, Required, or Verified (we'll send a confirmation link)

  • Location: Let users optionally submit a free-text location. Set as Optional, Off, or Required

2. Add custom field: Click this button to add more custom fields such as "Company" or "Position." Walls.io supports all language inputs and the use of emojis for custom field names. You can set these fields to Required or Optional.

You can change the order of the custom fields by selecting the dots on the left (where the pink arrow is pointing to) and dragging them in the desired position.

1. Click the button to add more fields (up to 4).

2. Click the minus to delete a custom field.

All changes to the form fields are displayed on the live preview depicted in the pink square on the right.

Leads

You can remove lead data directly from the leads list in two ways:

  1. Individual deletion: Click the red trash icon in the Actions column next to any entry to delete that specific lead's data.

  2. Bulk deletion: Click Delete All Leads in the bottom-left corner to remove all collected lead data at once.

In both cases, the associated posts remain on your wall. Only the personal information (name, email, location) is permanently removed.

Export your data

Above the leads list, you can download your data to the following file types:

  • Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)

  • CSV File

These files are ready to import into your favorite CRM or email tool.

💡Tip: To read more about collecting leads from photo booth submissions, head to the article: Collecting Leads on Your Social Wall.

Final check: Once you've set everything up, the photo booth can be accessed via the QR code or Create Post button and the submission form will be displayed as follows (depending on which settings you've chosen):

Submitting a post from the audience side

On the front end, it's super easy for a user to create a Lens post. Whether at an event or part of a website campaign, a user only has to scan the QR/click Create Post to begin.

Users can:

  • Take a photo

  • Take a video ("Loop" gif format)

  • Add stickers, frames, backgrounds

  • Add text

  • Write a caption

Once the user has scanned the QR code, the following screen will appear. Click "Photo Booth" to take a photo or Loop.

A. The user can opt to retake the photo.

B. The user can proceed with adding the stickers and assets.

💡Hint: The user can zoom in/out by pinching the photo.

Once the photo/Loop has been selected, the user can add the branded assets. Stickers and text can be repositioned and adjusted in terms of size.

If a background is selected, our tool first removes the original background.

In the following step, the user can click "Continue" and write an optional caption and click "Next."

They will be asked to fill out the form according to the fields you specified in the back end.

⚠️ Please note: If you have required visitors to consent to Privacy & Term Conditions, they will have to check the box before submitting.

After clicking "Post Now," they will receive a notification that tells them their post has been successfully published. If you have manual moderation set up in the back end, this notification will tell them that their post must first be approved by the manager of the wall.
