When you add or edit a content source in Walls.io, you can use source filters to control which posts are allowed onto your wall. This helps you reduce irrelevant content, keep popular hashtags more focused, and make sure the posts shown on your wall match your topic more closely.
You can include, exclude or combine different terms easily. For example:
Write
catandkittenseparately to allow posts which contain either “cat” or “kitten”.Write
"cat"(in quotes) to allow “cat”, but not as a substring (like in “catcontent”).Write
domestic animalto use posts which contain the exact phrase “domestic animal”.Write
catANDdogto only use posts which contain both “cat” and “dog”.Write
NOT lionto not use any posts which include the word “lion”.
Here's an example of how you can apply filters in Walls.io
This is a source that includes all public Tweets for the hashtag #pets:
This popular hashtag will, of course, bring in a ton of posts. To refine your source, you can add additional filter keywords and/or hashtag-combinations. The following example will only show posts that include both the hashtag #pets and #rats:
Now, you can go even further and add several filter keywords/hashtags. The next example shows posts that include #pets and at least one of the hashtags #rats and #cute (in nerd-speak - several filter keywords constitute an OR-constraint):
💡 Tip: Use exact-match filters when you want to avoid partial matches and only allow posts that contain the precise word or phrase you have in mind. Read how to use exact-match filters in Walls.io sources.
